Johnny Elois Waits Adair, age 91, of Warren, Michigan, died Thursday, April 16, 2020, at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. She was a native of Ethridge, Tennessee, retired from Chrysler Corporation in Michigan, and a member of Fairview Avenue Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Paschal and Louannie Miller Waits of Ethridge, Tennessee; three brothers: Rual Waits of Yulee, Florida; Ronald Waits of Ethridge, Tennessee; and Tommie Waits of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; six sisters: Fannie Miller of Pulaski, Tennessee; Belle Mock of Fernandina Beach, Florida; Rubye Lee of DeLand, Florida; Avis Polk of Nashville, Tennessee; Adean Wiley of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; and Jean Jones of Hermitage, Tennessee.
She is survived by two sons: Michael Adair (Cheryl) of Macomb, Michigan and David Adair (Donna) of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters: Anna Ruth “Sue” Downing of Madison, Florida and Gerry Leding of Hermitage, Tennessee; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order No. 17, a private service will be held.
