Johnnie Willis Rogers, age 96 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021at his residence. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Huntland on August 9, 1925 to the late John and Verna (Smith) Rogers. Johnnie served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He then worked as a carpenter and welder as well as an auto mechanic until his retirement. Johnnie enjoyed playing the banjo and watching old western movies. He was a member of the Winchester Church of Christ and attended Capital Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Rogers; son, Johnnie Rogers Jr; and siblings, Martha Stewart, Robert Rogers, and Dossett Rogers. Johnnie is survived by his loving children, Steven Rogers of Flint, Michigan, Tom Rogers of Estill Springs, Tim Rogers of Estill Springs, and Terry (Carrie) Rogers of Winchester; grandchildren, Brent Rogers of Flint, Michigan, Adam Rogers of Flint, Michigan, Kelley Rogers of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Rogers of Flint, Michigan, Lisa Sorise of Flint, Michigan, Thomas Rogers of Winchester, Chloe Wilson of College Grove, and David Rogers of Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren, Ada Emmarie, Dominic Sorise, and Mya and Myles Rogers; and siblings, William Rogers of Nashville, and Frank Rogers of Flint, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
