John Willie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Van Vleet, MS. He later joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Beloit WI, where he served on the kitchen committee, and the picnic committee.
Willie was an industrious person.
His father passed away when he was 11 years old. Willie stepped up to the plate to assist his mother on the family farm, before and after school. Each role that life required of him, he stepped into, he gave it his best, Son, Big Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin friend, and neighbor. His nurturing spirit extended to all of his family and friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Willie was a graduate of the Class of 1960, Chickasaw County High School, Houston, MS. He attended Okolona College where he studied Physical Education. July 23, 1963 Willie married the love of his life Lounett McAlister and they raised their family in Beloit, WI, to this union 2 children were born, Sherry & Steve.
He was a great carpenter, and a wonderful cook. He didn’t mind sharing the results of those great recipes. Our father prepared many meals without charging anything for Bodock Grove (North Mississippi Regional Center) They serve individuals with special needs. He loved them and they loved him. He prepared for 75 to 100 people at a time, several times for several years. He hand carved or shredded their meat, to whatever specific diets were needed. He shared his talents with our colleagues at no cost also. Whatever he had he shared.
He was well traveled. He would do anything but fly.
He loved everyone, but he had some people that were just special to him, John (Angela) Davis, his God Son Earnestine Mcalister, he loved Regina Green & Charlene Young like a daughter. He loved these young men like sons sons Michael Ezell and Allen Ezell, Cecil Ray Wainwright, and Darren Jones.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; brother’s in law, William Collins, Bobby Green, Willie Cooper, Climel McAlister, Romack McAlister; Sister’s in law, Zuella Green, Bobbie Hyler, Sadie Mcalister, a special little girl Zylynn Parrish.
