Johnnie Ethelene Moss Cowsert, 88, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home in Houlka, MS. Miss Ethelene was the biblical definition of a virtuous woman. Her life was her Lord Jesus, her husband, her children, and her church. Miss Ethelene and Mr. Lemmie D. were two gentle souls on this earth. To know them was to love them. Charter members of Cooke Memorial Baptist Church and Sunday School teachers for 50 plus years, the kingdom of God on Earth will miss them as the kingdom of God in Heaven welcomes them.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Gillespie (Randy); her grandchildren, Paula (Shawn) and Brian Hall (Dawn), seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lemmie D. Cowsert; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Services will be Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2PM at Cooke Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Inmon and Bro. Wayne Cobb officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 22nd 5-8PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc and Monday, September 23rd, 12PM until service time at Cooke Memorial Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Luther, Josh Alexander, Jimmy Collums, Dan Barnes, Cody Box, and Clay West.
