John William Willcox Jr. John William Willcox Jr., 84, of Huntsville, passed away from this life on Sunday morning, October 10, 2021. John was the oldest of eight children born to John and Alcine Willcox, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Celestine McKnett Willcox; two brothers, Gerald Willcox and Jeff Willcox; one sister-in-law, Betsy Willcox; one brother-in-law, Walter June; and one grandson, Joshua Brandon. He is survived by his five children, daughters, Janet Lee (Davin), Jean Matthews (Kenny), and Jill Green (Robert); two sons, John Willcox (Pam) and Joe Willcox (Noy); four sisters, Janice Johnson (Ken), Jeanette June, Joyce Sims (Ron), and Julie Bull (Morgan); brother Joseph Willcox; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren (one due in February). John graduated from Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee, married his loving wife Mary McKnett, and moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he later graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s first graduating class. He will always be remembered by his children, grandchildren, and anyone he ever met, as “G”, the name he gave himself back in 1983 when he became a proud grandparent. His grandchildren are forever grateful for all the individual time he gave them on their “special times” where he shared his love of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing trips on his boat, and nature. You will be forever in our hearts! We love you, G! Arrangements are being made for a Memorial Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at a later date.
