John William Bailey – Obituary

John William Bailey, originally from Malvern, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was 74 years old. John was born on November 4, 1941, in Crossett, Arkansas. He spent his childhood in Malvern, graduating from Malvern High School in 1959. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Henderson State Teachers College in 1965. He was then commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon completion of Officer Candidate School in September 1966.

Mr. Bailey began his career with Reynolds Aluminum as a Safety Officer with the Troutdale Reduction facility in Troutdale, Oregon. He continued with Reynolds International in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, in personnel management. After transferring to Reynolds Metals Reduction Division in Sheffield, Alabama, he retired in 1985.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Avery Bailey, of Malvern; son, John Michael Bailey (Mary Jane) of Clarksville, Tennessee; daughter, Shannon McCune (Steve) of Kennesaw, Georgia; stepdaughter, Karen Welch Jones (John) of Jacksonville; stepson, William Welch of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Sarah and Sydney McCune of Kennesaw, Georgia; step-grandson, Greg Jones of Jacksonville; step-granddaughter, Ashley Jones of Jacksonville; a special puppy, Lacy; and the loving mother of his three children, Shirley Ann Tuttle of Florence, Alabama.

Predeceasing Mr. Bailey are his parents, Clent Albert Bailey and Ruth Croswell Bailey, as well as his son, Matthew Christian Bailey.

A celebration of life service will be held on a future date.
