John Wesley “Wes” Depew

John Wesley “Wes” Depew, resident of Bolivar, Tennessee, formerly of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed over on November 15, 2020, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital at the age of 61 years. Born in Kingsport December 16, 1958, Wes moved his family to Louisville, Kentucky in 1991. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Campbellsville University through on-campus classes at James P Boyce College, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in December, 1996. He was currently serving Dixie Hills Baptist Church, Bolivar, but had ministered in youth and music in several churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. He loved playing guitar and singing, softball, golf, creative drama, and sports. He will be missed greatly by his wife of 40 years Barbara Fields Depew, formerly of Kingsport, son Daniel and his wife Sara Depew of Bartlett, and daughter Jenny Depew of Nashville. His grandsons Barrett age 6, Everett age 5, Wyatt age 3 and Grant 9 months loved to wrestle and play games with him on his IPad. Other family members include one brother Stan and wife Margaret Depew, Kingsport, their children Christopher and wife Courtney Depew, Kingsport, daughters Asheton, Haigan, and Emery and son Eli, and Kelli Depew Morris and husband Michael, daughter Makenna and son Xander. Also, one sister Jada Jones, Kingsport, sons Jesse, Joseph, and Jacob Jones and his wife Amber Kent-Jones. Wes was predeceased by his mother Jacqueline Miller Depew 2013 and his father Keener C. Depew 2016. The West Tennessee visitation will be held on Wednesday November 18, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, 1544 South Highland Ave, Jackson, TN 38301. The East Tennessee visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 800 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660. Graveside service will be held the following day on Saturday November 21, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Garden of Gethsemane, Oak Hill Cemetery, 800 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
