John Thomas Zahnd, Sr, 89, of Florence, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Mars Hill Church of Christ.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Rick Collum.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Zahnd; parents, Walter and Mary Bogus Zahnd; three brothers and seven sisters; step-children, Bobby McGee and Michelle Wilson.
He is survived by his second wife, Shelby Holt McGee Zahnd; sons, John Zahnd, Jr. and Ricky Zahnd; daughter, Elizabeth Morgan; brothers, Jerome Zahnd (Merle), Martin Zahnd (Jennifer), Arnold Zahnd (Pat); sisters, Betty Eaton (James), Martha Butler, Brenda Gail Clanton (Buford); sister-in-law, Robbie Zahnd; grandchildren, Robbie McGee, Kasey Green, Daniel Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, Patricia Morgan, Nathan Zahnd; many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
