JT Alexander Profile Photo John Thomas “JT” Alexander of New Market, passed away on Wednesday evening. He was 74.

JT had retired from the Madison County Commission after 23 years of service to the residents of District 1. As a man of many talents and abilities, he was also a farmer, installed floor covering, was a brick mason and a tractor mechanic.

He dearly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and all his family, and his favorite pastimes included riding his Harley and camping.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Thomas Alexander; His parents, Tom & Lucy Alexander; his daughter-in-law, Crystal Alexander; his sisters, Sallie Simpson, Mary Nixon and Frances Estes; his brother, Billy Alexander and two infant brothers.

Surviving family members include his wife of 49 years, Jackie Andrews Alexander; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Chris Bashaw; his son, Patrick Alexander; grandchildren: Grayson Alexander, Ethan Alexander, Ava Alexander, and his bonus grandson, Parker Bashaw; his siblings: Joyce Buchanan, Kenneth Alexander, Earnest Alexander, and Jimmy Alexander. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1pm until 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with Chris Bashaw officiating. A graveside committal service will be held on Monday at 10am at Maple Hill Cemetery.
