John T. “Tot” Mathis, 72, of Guntersville passed away on Thursday July 23, 2026, at Marshall Medical Center North.
Tot was born on July 5, 1954, in Marshall County, AL the son of James P. Mathis and Mattie L. Bolding Mathis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Julie Mathis; sister: Marion Lee Vanderver; sister: Barbara Weaver and brother: Billy Ray Mathis.
Survivors include his sisters: Linda Karr and Mary Bowers and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, the family has elected cremation, and he will be laid to rest with his family at Rice Cemetery.
