John Stephen Barnett, Jr., 34, of Iuka, MS, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He was an Ole Miss graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, and was also a board certified pharmacy technician. He was a very talented musician, songwriter, and poet. He enjoyed reading, and being outdoors. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, officiated by Dr. Ron Harris, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled 5 until 8 PM on Tuesday, February 21 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Pallbearers are Cade Gandy, Calvin Puckett, John Paul Hurdle, Michael Seal, Cody Huey, Mike Old, and Patrick McAalpin. He is survived by his father, Steve Barnett (Nichole) of Iuka; his mother, Kathy Mowdy of Jackson, MS; his brothers, Zach and Ely Barnett, both of Iuka, and Alex Mowdy of Denver, CO; one step brother, Joseph Flannagan of Honolulu, HI and; and one step sister, Brianna Flannagan of Florence, AL. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John A. and Christine Barnett and John and Louise Van Zant.
