John Samuel “Sammy” Crow, 73, went to be with his Savior Wednesday, June 29, 2016, surrounded by his family. Mr. Crow was born in Morgan County to Zemon and Marie Crow.
Mr. Crow is survived by his wife, Cathy (Sparkman) Crow; sons, Brian (Abby) of Danville and Brett (Karen) of Starkville, Mississippi; sisters, Brenda (Charles) Seifried of Decatur and Vicki (Randy) Lewis of Hartselle; his mother, Marie of Danville; nieces, Elizabeth (Chad) Seifried-McElligott, Hope Lewis and nephew, Caleb Lewis. He was preceded in death by his father, Zemon Crow.
He was a faithful member of Danville Baptist Church. Sammy was a devoted husband, father and son. He passed on a love of cattle to his sons.
Sammy was an avid cattle producer and raised cows his whole life. He was active in the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Association and a member of state and national cattle organizations. He could often be found behind the grill at local Cattlemen’s fundraising events.
He was retired from Amoco after over 30 years and did contract work with BE&K after he retired from Amoco. Sammy most recently worked with his wife to raise Registered Angus cattle at their farm, Crow Farms.
Pallbearers will be Jack Summerford, Gregg Holladay, Caleb Lewis, Charles Seifried, Felton Cooper and Andrew Smith. Randy Lewis will be an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Scholarship fund in Sammy’s memory. Donations can be sent to Diane Griffith, 602 Woodland St. NW, Hartselle, AL 35640.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Danville with funeral to follow at noon. Peck Funeral Home is directing.
