John Raymond Conway Jr., 82, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019. He was born in Wilton, Alabama, and graduated from Sylacauga High School and then Auburn University where he received a degree in engineering. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam war where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant and later was one of the first eight employees with Intergraph Corporation. After he retired, Ray enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching Auburn sports, gardening and playing golf, usually in one of his dozens of Ralph Lauren shirts. Ray also loved to eat! His last few months were difficult, but he never complained. He was smiling and laughing almost until the end. Ray was much loved and he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his son, Ron Conway (Suzanne) and son, Wyatt Conway; and daughter, Denise Conway James (Tommy) and children, Bennett Conway Suttles, Jane Katherine Suttles, and Ella Frances Suttles. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond Conway, Sr. and Loraine Conway; and sister, Joan Conway.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Maple Hill Cemetery. There will be a celebration of his life after the service at his dear friends, Kathy and Bill Dehollander’s home, 503 Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in his name to Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, 601 Genome Way, Huntsville, AL 35806.
