John Phillip “Phil” Lowry – Obituary

John Phillip “Phil” Lowry, 67, of Leighton, died, Aug. 1, 2014, in Leighton. 
He was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Colbert County. He was a truck driver for United Rental. 
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Wilda Hatton Lowry, Leighton; son, John Phillip Lowry Jr, Leighton; sister, Rosie Lene Lowry Carpenter, Town Creek; many nieces, nephews and in-laws; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Clay Carpenter, Frank Spangler and co-workers at United Rental Services of Muscle Shoals.
Honorary pallbearers are Elliott Rikard and first cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse S. Lowry, and mother, Norene Landers Lowry.
Mr. Lowry graduated from Colbert County High School in 1965 and was selected to the All-State football team. He was the recipient of an athletic scholarship to the University of North Alabama.
He loved the outdoors and spending many hours hunting and fishing with his beloved son, Phil. 
He attended Harmony Baptist Church and Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church. 
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Lawrence Funeral Home, Moulton, Ala. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Lawrence Funeral Home chapel, with Frank Spangler, Brother Ralph Colman and Brother Josh Horton officiating. Interment will be Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in Poplar Creek Cemetery, Leighton.
