John Patrick Clary, age 78, of Vincent, Alabama passed away at the Baptist Princeton Medical Center Monday, April 30, 2025. He was born, December 4, 1946, in Huntington, West Virginia to Willie Ralph Clary and Francis Jean Taylor Clary. John entered in the Airforce and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the airman’s Medal for Heroism on June 24, 1967. He retired from the Sloss industry after 30 years of service. John enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, cooking, and working outside on his property. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where a funeral service will follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Chick and Pastor Robbie Weems officiating. Burial will be at Lynn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Cummings, Landunn Cummings, Austin Adkins, Noah Lewis, Sidney Pearman, and Jeff Adkins. John is survived by his wife, Vanessa Clary; children, Neal (Lavonda) Cummings, Tracy (Mark) Adkins; six grandchildren, Zachary (Katlyn) Cummings, Kynslee (Noah) Lewis, Courtney Adkins, Landunn Cummings (Shelby Bishop), Emily Adkins, Austin Adkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ralph and Francis Jean Clary; sister, Margaret Suzanne “Sue” Wise; brother-in-law, Cecil W. Wise.
