John ‘Newman’ Loveless, age 87 of Haleyville, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018. He was born September 8, 1930 to Jasper Murphy Loveless and Sarah Haygood Loveless.
‘Newman’ was well known in Haleyville as the “grass cutting man”, as he cut almost every yard in Haleyville and did a lot of yard work. He also cut Christmas trees and delivered them for many years. ‘Newman’ was a Korean war veteran and in the 107th Army National Guard. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. ‘Newman’ is now with our Lord and Savior. His family and friends will miss him so much. ‘Newman’ would always say, “If I can help you in any way, just let me know” and mean it.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2018 from 12 NOON – 2:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville , where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. . Burial will be at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Glenn Bridgmon will officiate.
‘Newman’ is survived by his loving wife Gwen Bates Loveless; daughters, Judy (Don)Whitman and Debbie Loveless Lambert; Son, Tim (Misty) Loveless; grandsons, Jeff Loveless and Dustin Hutcheson; granddaughters, Sylvia Dick and Katie Werling; great-grandchildren, Gracie Loveless, Jeffrey Loveless, Alice Werling, Theo Dean Werling, Racheal Michelle Werling, Kaitlynn Caston and Will Hood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Murphy Loveless and Sarah Haygood Loveless; Son, Johnny Loveless; brothers, Harvey Loveless and Earnest Loveless; and Sisters, Effie and Ima; granddaughter, Kristie Whitman Hood.
