John Mark Benson
Mr. Benson was born in Savannah, Tennessee on December 15, 1969. He died July 9, 2023 in Cape Coral, Florida after an extended illness. He was 53 years old.
John was an only child to the late Gay Nell Ford Benson and Anderson Rod Benson. He is survived by one uncle and numerous cousins and friends.
John did not focus on his physical limitations but chose instead to excel, and complete his formal education. Graduating from Bradshaw High School in 1988, he attended the University of North Alabama, completing his degree in social work. He worked in Birmingham, Alabama as a social worker as well as a web page designer, for a few years.
John was an advocate to help improve the lives of all with special needs. The example he set was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He was a member of Wood Avenue Church of Christ in Florence, Alabama. Following his wishes, cremation has been completed.
His extended family are planning a memorial service for a celebration of life. The date will be announced at a later time.
