Funeral service for John Leroy (the Boss) Simmers Jr., 32, of Somerville, AL will be Wednesday January 08, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Simmers was born July 25, 1981 in Erie, PA to John Simmers Sr. and Gloria Rendulic Franklin. He passed away January 05, 2014 at his residence. He was a disabled veteran, serving with the United States Army from 1998 to 2008 as a helicopter mechanic. He served in the Fight for Iraqi Freedom. He was a Baptist, a loved father, son, brother, uncle, and great friend. He was preceded in death by his step-mother; Francis Simmers. He is survived by his wife; Melissa Darr, three sons; Tyler Washburg Simmers, John Simmers III, and Tippy Simmers. Two daughters; Mikella Simmers and Leandra Darr, mother; Gloria Franklin and step-father John Wayne Franklin of Somerville, father; John Simmers Sr. of McDonald, TN, grandmother; Doris Papsun of Erie, PA, brother; David Pulling and wife Angela of Erie, PA, five sisters; Tanya Jingleski and husband Adam of New Castle, WY, Shannon Paul and husband Chris of Erie, PA, Johnnie Jeffers of Hartselle, Melissa Habas of Erie, PA, Jennifer (Fur Fur) Truver of Panama, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
