John Larry Waid, age 81 of Double Springs Alabama, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Lakeland Community Hospital. He was born February 1, 1945 to Lester and Zettia Waid. John was a fan of old western films and could often be found watching the news. He Loved Alabama football and would take time whenever he could to travel. The visitation will be held Sunday, November 1, 2026 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home, in Double Springs, Alabama, where the funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Houston Congregational Church Cemetery in Houston, Alabama. Chaplain Mitch Nethery will officiate. John is survived by his son Kenny Waid (Jennifer); grandsons, Brett Waid (Jennifer Leigh), Ryan Waid, Ben Waid, Jacob Roseboom; step-daughter, Melita Roseboom (Rick); brother, Lester Ben Waid Jr.; sister, Loaine Rampley; and great grandchildren, Sawyer Waid, Charlee Waid, Owen Waid, Noah Waid, Brooklyn Forrester, and Reid Forrester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Ben and Zettia L. Waid; son, Keith Waid; wife, Rickie Sutherland; and brother, Orlen Waid.
