John L. Smith, age 78, of Hackleburg, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center.
John L. worked as a brick mason and a farmer. He enjoyed this past summer working in the garden and teaching his kids and grandchildren how to have a garden. He attended Adams Missionary Baptist Church.
The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
He was preceded in death, his wife of 54 years, Glinda Faye Williams Smith; parents, Ed & Dora (Baggett) Smith; siblings, JoAnn Duncum, Bobby Smith, Lou Carter, Voncile Howard, Dean Bailey, and Rose Ray.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Sherry Smith, Kim Jones (husband, Barry), Deirdre Quillen (husband, Mickey); grandchildren, Andy Jones, Austin Jones (Ashton), Alaina Jones James (Hunter), John James “J.J.” Quillen, River Quillen, Ainsley Quillen, Logan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Liam Jones, Cameron Jones, Wesley Jones; and a host of nieces & nephews.
The pallbearers will be Austin Jones, River Quillen, Andy Jones, J.J. Quillen, Hunter James, and Nick Williams.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
