Mr. John Joseph Walsh, Jr. age 90, passed away on October 25, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

John was the son of the late John Walsh, Sr. and the late Catherine Daugherty Walsh in Scranton, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1923.

John began his working career for a wholesale grocery. Later he worked in assembly for General Motors and Price Pfister. He was a loving husband and father. He loved children and his wife Winnie says, “that’s why we had eight of them.” He really enjoyed holidays, especially Halloween. The family remembers that he always spent lots of money on candy at Halloween because he enjoyed the children coming to the door in their costumes so much. He also loved Christmas.

His daughter says he was just a great man. He loved trains, the 5:30 news with Brian Williams and Jeopardy. One of his other favorites was Family Feud with Steve Harvey.

Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife whom he married on November 9, 1944: Edwina “Winnie” Gross Walsh; children: Pat Lott, Catherine Walsh, Rose Walsh, John Joseph (Victoria) Walsh, III, Edwina “Winnie” Romero, Timothy Walsh, Cecilia Walsh and Mark Walsh; 7 grandchildren: Patricia, Della Rose, Curtis Ray, Bryon Richard, Amanda, John, IV and Michael; 7 great-grandchildren; godson: Edward Hannick and sister: Catherine Walsh. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter: Ginger.

Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
