Charles Louis “Pappy” Wakefield – Obituary

CharlesMr. Charles Louis “Pappy” Wakefield, age 74, of Mount Pleasant, Tn, passed away October 24, 2013 after an extended illness.

A native of Madison, TN, he was born on November 5, 1939, the son of Charles Thurman and Mary Richardson Wakefield. Educated in the Davidson Co. Schools, Mr. Wakefield was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the medical corps.

A histotechnologist by training, Mr. Wakefield was retired from the Pathology Laboratory in Columbia. Mr. Wakefield was a former member of the Graymere Church of Christ and after moving to Mt. Pleasant, became a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.
In addition to his career, Mr. Wakefield enjoyed painting, picking the banjo, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Mr. Wakefield is survived by sons Robert (Patricia) Wakefield of Columbia and Terry (Jenny) Wakefield of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren Dr. Lindsey Wilke of Phoenix, AZ, Lauren Wakefield of Nashville, Sydney & Luke Wakefield of Mt. Juliet, sisters Linda Marchetti and Virginia Cranor of Nashville; sister in law Judy (Gerald) Meador of Mt. Juliet and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wakefield was preceded in death by his first wife Brenda Hagar Wakefield, and his second wife, Betty Binkley Dooley Wakefield.

The relatives and friends of Charles Louis “Pappy” Wakefield are invited to attend his funeral service at 2:00p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 & 8:00p.m. on Monday evening, October 28, 2013. Final interment will be private.
