John “Johnny” Baggette of Decatur passed away at his home on July 27, 2015. Visitation will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 202 Gordon Dr. SE in Decatur on Thursday, July 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the parish hall with a memorial service to immediately follow.
Johnny was born in Andalusia and graduated Auburn University in 1965 with a degree in building science. He was retired from Baggette Construction which he started 1982, and the company is still involved in the construction of commercial projects throughout the southeast.
Johnny was an avid pilot, sailor, scuba diver and Auburn football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dana Pearce Baggette; two children, John Russell Baggette Jr. (Donna Baggette) of Huntsville and Sarah Mason Baggette of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Mason Russell Baggette, Emma Catherine Baggette and Lucy Dixon Baggette; three sisters, Alba Bailey, Sally Ann Ramey and Gayle Wynn and two brothers, Jerry Baggette and Philip Baggette. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ruth Baggette and brothers, Bob and Digby Baggette.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Valley, St. John’s Episcopal Church Building Fund or the charity of your choosing.
