John Henry Henderson, Jr. 69, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at UAB Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2024, with his wife by his side.

John was born in Warrenton, North Carolina, to the late William and Mary Henderson.  He proudly served in the Army for 22 years, having enlisted on April 28, 1976.  During His time at Fort Hood, Texas, John answered a higher calling and accepted Jesus as his savior.  His dedication to ministry and genuine care for others made a profound impact on those around him.  Known for his kindness and ability to make everyone feel welcome, John touched many lives and was deeply loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Hilda; his daughter, Andrea (Neville) of Madison, AL, and Lisa of Huntsville, AL.  John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Henderson, and sister, Margaret Turner of Warrenton, NC.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Berryhill Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens located at 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
