John Sims passed at the age of 75 peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 29th at Princeton Hospital, Birmingham. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; daughters, Brandi Brown (David), Sherri Kugler (Jimmy) and his son, John H. Sims IV (Kathy); three grandchildren, Todd Swindoll (Bethany), Haley Brown, Austin Brown and three great-grandsons.
Born Sept. 2, 1941 and raised in Birmingham. Son of Dr. John H. Sims, Jr. and Anna Louise Couch Sims, both deceased. The oldest of three sons, brother, Andrew Couch Sims (deceased) and Harold Grey Sims.
John Sims was a graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School where he lettered in football, baseball and wrestling. He had many hobbies over the years he shared with many friends, fishing, golfing, RC planes and gardening.
Early in his career he worked as a salesman for American Optical covering the southeast region. Later he began a family business, Golf Supply America for 20 years selling and shipping golf supplies all over the world.
May 24th would have been their 54th wedding anniversary. The family will be celebrating his life and marriage to Patricia at this time.
