John Eric Bates age 51 of Elkmont, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Parkway Medical Center.
Eric was born October 14, 1961 in Athens, and was a lifelong area resident. He loved to hunt and spend time with his grandson, Hunter.
Services for Eric will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery with Frankie Murphy officiating.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Susan and Alan Leff; grandmother, Birdie Bates; brother, Mark Bates and wife Jeraldine; sister, Lila Bates; nephew, Blayne Bates; step-children, Tabitha Spires and Mark Guisasola; grandchildren, Hunter Adams and Kenlee Guisasola; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Bates; grandparents, Robert and Barbara Harper and Hubert Bates.
