John Edward Stonecipher, Jr – Obituary

john-stonecipher-1473250520John Edward Stonecipher, Jr, 76 of Sheffield, passed away September 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Stonecipher, Sr, and Dorothy Mitchell Stonecipher, his father-in law, James Ray Freeman and mother-in-law, Estelle Glover Freeman. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Kathy Stonecipher, and his daughter and light of his life, Laura Stonecipher. He is also survived by his sister, Susan James (Wayne), sister-in-law Wanda Bailey (Carl), brother-in-law Bob Freeman, nephews Brent Bailey (Sue), David James (Cindy), Kevin James, and niece, Lisa Mallette (Steve), as well as a host of grand nieces and nephews.
John and Kathy opened their first retail store in 1970, Kathy – John’s, and his young employees affectionately called him “Boss”. That name stayed with him until his retirement from Coffee Health Group as the Director of Admissions. He was always respectful, fair, considerate and loved by all his employees.
John was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheffield and served in many leadership roles over the years. He also served his community as a member of the Sheffield Civil Service Board.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 8th from 10:00-11:30, with services following at 11:30 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, and burial in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, with Bill Bedsole officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Freeman, Carl W. Bailey, Brent Bailey, Dr. Stephen Mallette, Chris Hutchins and Ronald Pace. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at ECM hospital CTRU for your support and care. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
