John Edward Farmer Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday. Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Farmer; daughters, Andra Nettleton (Tim), Amy Perry (Troy), and Julie Taylor (Josh); sister, Donna Garner; grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Nettleton, Cynthia Ann Farmer, Payton Perry, and Taylor Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Crumbley and McKenzie Farmer. He was preceded in death by his son, John “Johnny” Edward Farmer Jr., mother, Ona Belle McBurnett, father, Lee Farmer, and sisters, Betty Price and Marilyn Walton.
Mr. Farmer was born and raised in Tallapoosa, GA, and moved to Huntsville with his wife in 1962. He graduated from Georgia Tech and worked for NASA on RSA as an Electrical Engineer for 35 years. He served His Lord and Savior as a long time member and Deacon of Sherwood Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sherwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
