John Earl Cox, age 76, of Sheffield, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019. His visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Don McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
John served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Srygley Church of Christ. He was a loving husband and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devoted Christian man who loved his family. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching the Atlanta Braves, Crimson Tide, and his granddaughter with Muscle Shoals Softball.
His survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Charleen Hodge Cox; children, Leisa Cox, Angela Holschuh (Robert) and Kathy Pounders (Richard); brothers, Doug Cox (Patsy) and Don Cox (Carolyn); sisters, Melba Hargett, Joyce Upton, Helen Seay and Gail Cox; grandchildren, Bryan Gregg, Aaron Gregg, Wesley Gregg, Madison Pounders and Macy Pounders; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Aaron Gregg, Bryan Gregg, Toby Hargett, Colby Cox and Rodney Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hudson and all of the male members of Srygley Church of Christ.
