Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Rev. John E. Greer, age 76 of Winchester.  Rev. Greer passed from this earthly life into life everlasting on July 1, 2020.  A native of Nashville, he attended high school in Bedford County.  Following high School he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.  He attended Tennessee State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree and  later earned a master’s degree from Trevecca University in Nashville.  He served as the Executive Director of the Franklin County Housing Authority for a number of years. In 2011 he was called into the ministry with the United Methodist Church and served as pastor of the Lillard Chapel United Methodist Church in Smyrna.  Rev. Greer is preceded in death by his mother, Liza Scruggs Greer and his father, Hanson Greer.  He is also preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Greer, a sister, Josephine and a brother, Thomas Hanson Greer, Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his wife of 22 years, Mary Ann Simmons Greer.  In addition, he leaves a son, Vincent (Robin) Greer of York, PA and three grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Erin Greer.  Calling hours will be Monday July 6, 2020 between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home.  A private funeral service and burial with military honors will be held at a later time.
