John Douglas Dempsey, 69, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Franklin County, Alabama and was a graduate of Belgreen High School. He was retired from Ford Motor Company.
Services will be Sunday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Alabama, with Brother Mitch Netherly officiating. Burial will be in Dempsey Cemetery, Russellville, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are one daughter, Kelly Bagwell; one sister, Sandra Beasley (Joe) Red Bay, Alabama; three nieces, Angela Boyd (Sonny), Melissa Beasley, and Cindy Guy (Herschell); and a host of great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Dempsey and Opal LeMay Dempsey, and a nephew, Kevin Thomas Beasley.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Alexander Beasley, Cody Dill, Chase White, Brett White, Sonny Boyd, Herschell Guy, and Brad Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Dony McKinney, Neal Hargett, Frankie Collum, and Richard Wilson.
Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 30, 2-3 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama.
