John Donald Trotti, age 74, of Athens, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2014, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Eddie Gooch officiating. Mr. Trotti was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army, having served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and numerous other medals. He was a member of Isoms Chapel Methodist Church of Athens. He was a bus driver for Grissom School and the Space and Rocket Center. He was an avid outsdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing, and participating in animal wildlife rescue. Mr. Trotti was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and David Trotti, Jr.; son, Dwayne Trotti; and brothers, Raymond Trotti, Sr., and David Trotti, III. He is survived by his loving wife, Marshelle; children, Denise Kelly, Douglas (Darlene) Trotti, Cristina (S.Sgt Henry (ret.)Turnipseed, and Brian Rogers; brother, Howard Trotti; sister, Patricia (Ken) Dial; daughter-in-law, Deborah Trotti; and numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Isoms Chapel Mission Fund, 16230 Mooresville Road, Athens, AL 35613.
