Mr. John Dewitt “J.D.” Corn, age 93, of Arab, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Marshall Medical Center North.
Mr. Corn was born on February 4, 1926 in Jefferson County to John Hudson Corn & Verna Grant Corn. He was married to the late Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Corn who passed on November 10, 2003. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII later retiring from Boeing as a Computer Support Services. Bro. J.D. Corn was a member of Arab Masonic Lodge #663 he is a 50 year Mason, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, The Royal Order of Scotland and was honored by receiving The Knight Commander of the Court of Honor. Mr. Corn was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Alabama Football, baseball, basketball and reading the newspaper.
He was a member of Arab First united Methodist Church.
Mr. Corn is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Kathy Corn Berens & Thomas; Roy Hudson Corn; grandchildren, Angela Higginbottom, Luke Short & Amanda, Chris Berens, Zachary Burton Corn; great grandchild, Elizabeth Short. Preceded in death by his parents, John Hudson Corn & Verna Grant Corn; wife, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Corn; 3 sisters; 1 brother.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at Brookwood Cemetery. Rev. Steve West & Rev. Nicky James will be officiating the service with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will include; Max McWhorter, Lavon Sutton, Randy Grice, Ron Cox, Glenn Leak & Randy Blakely. Honorary pallbearers; Bob Fox & Arab Masonic Lodge #663.
