John Davis Gentle, age 77, of Hackleburg passed away February 9, 2026 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 5, 1948 to Orbie and Beatrice Gentle in Birmingham, Alabama. John was a hard worker and a great husband to his loving wife. He remained an always loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren all his days. Visitation will be Saturday February 14, 2026 at Akins Funeral Home 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. where the service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Alabama. John is survived by his wife, Brenda Gentle; sons, Jeff (Stacy) Gentle and Tim Gentle; grandchildren, Jacob (Lexie) Gentle, Garett Gentle, and Lilyclaire Gentle; brothers, Tommy (Linda) Gentle and Ronald (Melinda) Gentle; and a host of nieces and nephews.
