  John David Wilks John David Wilks, age 77, of the New Canaan community of Arab, AL passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his wife, son, and other loved ones. John was born October 31, 1947 in Marshall County, AL to John L. Wilks and Betty Martin Wilks. John was a high school and UAH graduate and earned an engineering degree. He worked for John Blue Company until it closed. Afterward he chose to take advantage of the opportunity and became the owner/operator of his own welding and dump truck business.

John was a man with many interests and talents. He was a highly skilled welder and was frequently called on to work on the most complicated projects. He loved his farm, horses, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and boating.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Brenda; son and daughter-in-law, John Andrew and Lisa Wilks; daughter-in-law Jessica Isbell, grandchildren Kimberlee Hayden Osmer, Bailee Grace Usrey, and John Caleb Isbell; brothers Danny Joe Wilks (Kelly), Jonathan Wilks (Belinda); sisters Judy Benson, Nita Wilks, and Rita Wilks; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Susan Harris, Roger and Anita Harris, Michelle Lamb; mother-in-law Ruby Southard; and many other beloved family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. John L. & Mrs. Betty Wilks and stepson John Isbell.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends and guests at a visitation starting at noon. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with a private burial to follow. Dr. Aaron Johnson will officiate. Arrangements entrusted to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
