John Calvin Howell, 65, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Huntsville, AL. Born in Atlanta, GA, John’s career spanned over 30 years in software technology with much of that at Bentley Systems. His experience in aerospace, defense, water, wastewater, oil & gas, and telecommunications was dedicated to infrastructure improvement and providing a better life for others.
John was a graduate of Randolph School and Birmingham Southern College with degrees in History and Computer Science.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa and two sons, Austin Croft (Kat) of Austin, TX and John Wesley Howell of Huntsville. A grandson, Connor Croft, two brothers, Charlie Howell (Phyllis) and Todd Howell, sister-in-law Lisbeth Jane Christian, family member William “Hank” Frasier (Angie), and nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Baxter Howell of Decatur, AL.
A private service will be held for John’s family.
We will remember John for his wonderful sense of humor and his love of Alabama Football.
