John Amos Riddle, age 68, of Summertown, TN entered into his eternal peace after an extended illness on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
John was born in Summertown, Tennessee to the late Odie Riddle and Edna Geneva Giles Riddle on July 28, 1948. He graduated from Summertown High School in 1967. He worked for the railroad for 20 years and retired in 1992. John especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and was very involved in sports as he watched his son and grandkids participate throughout their school years. He was also an experienced mechanic and especially loved working on Fords.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Edna Giles Riddle; and one brother, Jim Riddle. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Garland Riddle, whom he married in 1968; one son, John “Hoss” Riddle and wife, Dana; his two devoted grandchildren, Ty Riddle and Jess Riddle all of Summertown, Tennessee; one brother, Joe Riddle and wife, Debbie of Columbia; and special friends and uncles, Billy Giles of Summertown and Donald Giles of Ethridge. John is also lovingly remembered by many adoring brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law along with special nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 01, 2016 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 02, 2016, with Bishop Steven Hughes and Brother Ralph Wunner officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN with grave dedication by Bob Bohn.
The family extends their gratitude to his Home Healthcare workers, Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Messenger and the caretakers at Maury Regional Medical Center for their diligent care and support during his illness and final days. Your kindness and compassion is greatly appreciated.
