John Allen Hedges has been filled with perpetual light and joy as he met his Savior and reunited with his beloved Ruby Jean in Paradise on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from his residence in Okolona. John was born January 31, 1936 in Booneville, Indiana. He grew up in Dale, Indiana where he attended the public schools. After receiving a Degree in Finance from Indiana University, he moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana where he met and married the love of his life, Ruby Jean Jenks on March 18, l972, a beautiful love affair that endured in fullness and joy until her death on March 26, 2022. John first worked for Associate Investment Company in Indiana. He then went into the furniture manufacturing business working in all phases. He and Ruby Jean became Mississippian’s in l984 when they moved to Okolona to be President/CEO of Seville Furniture Manufacturing. John was well respected around the country among associates in the furniture industry and his advise and counsel, as well as Ruby Jean’s was often sought among peers. They made countless friends and were known for their joyful spirit and flair for entertaining. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Okolona where he often played the piano.

There will be no formal service. Family and friends will gather between 5 PM – 7 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors (300 West Main, Okolona) to share reflections of John’s remarkable life. Holland Funeral Directors-Okolona is honored to be serving their friends.

John is survived by his dear friend and caretaker, Daphne Fowler and her daughter, Lilly Pad both of Okolona; three sons, Mark Mennen(Dana), Robert Mennen (Kelly) and Keith; 4 grandchildren; his St. Therese family, his furniture association and a host of other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 206 West Monroe, Okolona, MS. 38860 or to Excel Commons, an intervention ministry in Okolona, 230 West Main St., Okolona, MS. 38860.
