John Allen Bolton, 67, of Grant, Alabama, was unexpectedly taken from us on June 7th, 2019. He was born to parents James and Opal Bolton on April 8th 1952 on Merrill Mountain (Grant), Alabama.
John was a devoted husband and loving father who was a well-known and respected figure in his community. Born and raised on his family farm, John had a special affinity to the place he called home. He spent a majority of his time outdoors. Whether it was tending to his animals, working in one of his several gardens, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, or just tinkering on equipment, he was always happiest “doing something”. He was the type of man who preferred being outside on a hot day clearing brush than sitting on the couch watching TV. He graduated from Guntersville High School in 1970. John retired from Huntsville Utilities after 23 years of working as a Water Treatment Plant Operator.
John married his wife of over 40 years, Julie S. Bolton, on September 28th, 1978 in Grant, Alabama. Together they raised 3 children: Chris Bolton, Sandy Benson, and Michael Bolton.
John is survived by his children and their spouses Chris (Lenida) Bolton, Sandy (Jason) Benson, Michael (Rose) Bolton, his brother Henry (Connie) King, seven grandchildren: Siehra Bolton, Jaxon Benson, Lily Bolton, Alex Bolton, Caraleigh Benson, Naomi Benson, Iris Bolton, and one great grandson: Hudson Wright.
He is preceded in death by his father James A. Bolton and mother Opal N. Bolton.
