John Albert Murphy age 78 of Athens, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Limestone Health Facility. Mr. Murphy was born September 6, 1938 in Limestone County, AL to Andrew Franklin Murphy and Laura Louise Humphrey.
Services will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy served his country in the United States Air Force.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Allen; parents; three sisters; one great-grandchild.
Survived by two daughters, Joy Reese of Ardmore, AL and Angela Haff of Hartselle, AL; one son, Bill Haggermaker of Danville, AL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; fiancé Glenda Kellum of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Haggermaker, Trent Thornton, Shawn Clay, Zach Posey, John Haff, Larry Birdwell, Colton Haggermaker and Randy Hastings.
