John A. Oliver, Sr., 83 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021, at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville, GA. Mr. Oliver was born on October 15th, 1937, to Lloyd Eugene Oliver and Dallas Cleo Steele Oliver.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of 12 years, Becky Dunlap; daughters Donna Oliver Bryant (Randy) of Perry, GA, and Cheryl Oliver Carrasco (Roderick) of Thompson Station, TN; son Jay Oliver (Sherry) of Gray, GA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren – Ericka Johnson (Wes) – Gabe, Gidion and Uriah; Andrea Wilkes (Steve) – Trace; Jessica Phipps ( Greg) – Rylee and Reese; Brandon Bryant (Karma) – Addie and Grayson; Callie Oliver (Brandon) – Boston, Banks, and Bellamy; Casey Magaw (Josh); Niki Watkins (Christopher) – Azrael, Anikan, and Olivia; Kyle Carrasco (Danielle) – Emiliano; Seth Breeding – Marlee, Carter, and Dawson; Kendall Carrasco; and Jayce Oliver; stepchildren Gary and Angie Layne, and Tina Dunlap.
Preceded in death by Sharon Van Dyke Oliver, wife of 51 years; daughter Tina Oliver Breeding; parents; and brothers Sonny Oliver and Louis Oliver.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Oliver on Saturday, July 31st, 2021, at 1:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville, GA. (777 Nursing Home Rd, Marshallville, GA 31057).
Mr. Oliver was a member of West Huntsville Baptist Church.
