Joey Lea Darracott, 67, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice, Tupelo, MS. He was born in Kenosha, WI. He retired as a truck driver for Gemini/Love’s after ten years. He became the customer host at Precision RV and became a vital part of the company touching many lives in the process. He was known by many as “Papa Joe” and he was a member and Head Elder of Grace Community Fellowship Church. He served as Mentor at Mississippi and North Alabama Mens Encounter and loved Auburn football.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 11, 3 p.m. at Grace Community Fellowship, Golden, MS with Bro. David Kelley, Bro. Jerry Balentine and Bro. Tony Darracott officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Darracott; children, Tony Darracott (Heather) and Chris Darracott (Jeanine); grandchildren, Samuel Darracott, Addison Darracott and Neriah Darracott; father, Leabert Darracott; siblings, Denise Scott (Robert), Louis Darracott (Teresa), Reagan Darracott (Missy), Kathy Swindle (Donnie) and Billy Darracott; brother-in-law, Mike Johnson (Joyce) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tina Darracott, two sisters, Trina Adkison and Teresa Johnson and a brother-in-law, Terry Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Risner, Bill Dockery, Andy Patterson, Chris Dill, Jordan Ruple and Terry Ray.
The family wants to say a special thank you to Katie Gresham, Bay Health and Wellness and Sanctuary Hospice for their care of Mr. Darracott.
Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 6-9 p.m. at Grace Community Fellowship.
