Joel Luther Henry, 72 passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at home after

an extended illness. Mr. Henry was born in Colbert County, Alabama on May 28,

1947 to Buford C. and Eva Knight Henry.  He graduated from Rienzi High School in

1965 and continued his education at Northeast MS Junior College earning several

technical degrees. Joel served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era and

prior to retirement worked for ITT and FMC. He was a member of Kings Gate

Worship Center where he previously served as elder.

 

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gloria Palmer Henry; his special needs

grandson, Chris Southern who was like a son to him; three step-children, Greg

Southern (Christine) of Clermont, Fl.; Gina Earwood (Philip) of Tupelo, Michelle

Barbieri (Warren) of Tupelo; six grandsons, four granddaughters, his niece

Charlotte Graves Romano (Mike) of New Orleans, LA and his nephew Mark Grubbs

(Jessica) of Memphis, TN.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Bettie Ann Graves.

 

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Kings Gate Worship

Center in Tupelo with visitation one hour prior to service time.

Burial will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park. Holland Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.

 

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
