Joel Curry Key, age 69 of Jasper, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Walker Baptist Medical Center.

Joel was born March 14, 1951 to Ernie Key and Elsie Cooper Key in Jasper, AL.  Joel served in US Army in Vietnam.  He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Marksman (Rifle M-14).  He was a proud member of Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.  Joel served his community well in Fire Dept, Cemetery Board in the past.  He was the “Community Handyman” and helped everyone.

Joel was a devoted husband, loving father, brother and extremely proud PaPa to his grandchildren and had many bonus Grands as well from the community.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Fellowship.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Fellowship.  Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery.  James Aaron and Juanita Davis will officiate.

Mr. Key was preceded in death by his Father-Ernie Key; Mother-Elsie Beasley; Brothers-T.L. Tidwell, Dewayne Key and Johnny Tidwell; Sister-Belinda Cornwell; Grandparents-William Noah Key and Janie Clements, Willie and Myrtle Haynes.

He is survived by his Wife-Martha Key; Sons-Billy and Tessa Key, James and Shelia Key and Jeffery Key; Bonus Sons-Christopher Stratton and Brad Stratton; Daughter-Melanie Key; Bonus Daughters-Sarah Allred Mote, Corrina Dunfee and Dawn Stratton; Brother-Dwight Key; Sisters-Gwen Smith and Juanita Davis; 33 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Many Nieces and Nephews.
