Mr. Joe Wiley Frazier, 75, of Muscle Shoals, fought a brave battle with cancer for 12 years and died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Morrison Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Brother Tommy Graves will officiate.
Mr. Frazier was preceded in death by his parents, Clay S. Frazier Jr. and Billie Paul Frazier; his sister, Carol Elizabeth Frazier; and his great-grandson, C.J. Jones.
Joe spent two years in Carlisle Military Academy in Bamberg, S.C. He was commanding sergeant over Ft. Leavenworth Correctional Barracks, commanding sergeant over the Cubans in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa., and commanding sergeant over Camp Shelby, Miss., and was commander of Florence Lauderdale Rescue Squad for 14 years. Joe had a total military service of 35 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Franks Frazier; his daughters, Kathy Frazier Liles (Chris) and Alicia Kelli Hall; his sons, Michael C. Frazier Sr. (Dorenda) and Joseph Bryan Frazier; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Kendall Gooch, Mark Scott, Cody Scott, Kelvin Howard, Sam Howard, and Jeremy Cadle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Roddy, Dr. James Ryerson, Jim Buettner, and Jim Holland.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brad Ginevan and Hospice Advantage, who did a wonderful job in his care. A very special thanks to our caregivers, Judy, Tammy, Jennifer, Faye, Hope, and Erica.
