Joe Wallace Runions, affectionately known as “Joe Cool,” passed away on November 10, 2025, in Columbia, Tennessee, at the age of 67. A lifelong resident of Maury County, Joe will be remembered for his generous spirit, his sense of humor, and the down-to-earth charm that made him a beloved presence to all who knew him.
Born and raised in Maury County, Joe lived a life rooted in hard work and heartfelt connection. He spent many years working as a farmer, embracing the values of dedication, resilience, and integrity that came with the land. Whether in the fields or among friends, Joe was always ready with a helping hand — the kind of man who never hesitated to lend his time or strength to someone in need.
Joe had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He enjoyed fishing, drinking a strong cup of coffee, and catching classic westerns on TV. On weekends, he could often be found sharing a drink and a laugh with his buddies. Known for his lighthearted nature, Joe was a natural flirt and never failed to bring a smile to those around him, especially the ladies who might appreciate his playful charm.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Rebecca Runions; and siblings Lillian Scott, Don Runions, Elaine Runions, Bill Runions, Margaret Runions, and Martha Runions.
Joe leaves behind his son, James Lee Runions; his siblings Daisy Harvell and Roy Runions; his nephew Chris Angus and Chris’s wife, Naomi Borriello; niece Raynona Boyd; along with extended family and many friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and generous heart.
Joe’s legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew and loved him — a man who lived honestly, laughed freely, and gave much more than he ever asked for in return.
Williams Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Joe Runions.
