Joe Russell Malone, 78, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born March 30, 1946, in Tupelo, to Jim Thomas and Louise Dozier Malone. He attended school in Saltillo. He retired from Krueger International after 44 years of service. He served as Alderman for Ward 2 in Mantachie for twelve years. He was a member of the Mantachie Methodist Church. He was one of the first members of the Koinonia Walk to Emmaus. He collected Coca Cola memorabilia and baseball cards. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan. He loved attending any and all things that his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were involved in.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, at the Mantachie Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Goodwin, Rev. Joe Coggins, and Rev. Caleb Holder officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Methodist Church Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Geneva Rusoe Malone; one daughter, Michele Moran; two sons, Tim Malone (Karen) and Jeff Malone; seven grandchildren, Trae Rodgers (Kameron), Haley Rodgers, Courtney Moran, Christopher Malone, Andrew Malone (Aimee), Karmen Dickerson, and Justin Kilgo; twelve great grandchildren, Riley, Waverly, Wrenley, Dakota, Karter, Iva, Jasper, Shiloh, Ruger, Zaelia, Tyler, and Addie; two brothers, Pete Malone (Paula)and Larry Malone; one sister, Sandra Deaton (Billy); several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Thomas Malone; his mother Louis Dozier Malone Hill; his stepfather, Ralph Hill; and one sister, Marie Black.
Pallbearers will be Andy Black, Randy Black, Roger Deaton, Chris Deaton, Gabby Figueroa, and Curtis Malone.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time all at the Mantachie Methodist Church.
