Mr. Joe Regis Barclay, 82, of Rogersville went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, October 24, 2019. Joe and his wife, Betty Fleming Barclay, would have been married 63 years on November 8th.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home with funeral service to follow in the chapel. Randy Baker will be officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Belton & Dessie Grisham Barclay; brother, Belton, Jr. and sister, Eva Keller.
Joe was a member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ and retired from the Lauderdale County Board of Education, as assistant transportation supervisor after 34 years.. Joe began helping his dad do mechanic work when he was around 8 years old and continued mechanic work all his life. He had a thriving business at his home shop fixing cars and tractors for the public. After retiring, Joe kept busy farming. He and son, Larry, farmed soy beans, baled a lot of hay and spent many hours working on farm equipment. Everyone knows Joe loved to tell stories and tales of growing up with his brother, sisters, friends and farming.
Mr. Barclay is survived by his wife, Betty Fleming Barclay; daughter, Anita (Vance); son, Larry (Kathy); brother, Jimmy (Betty); sisters, Sarah Lawson, Ann Davis, Alice Ezell, Betty Shelton and Peggy (Gary) Gamble; granddaughter, Pace Mejias; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Chloe and Isaiah Mejias; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Joe was loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.
