  Joe N. Pevahouse Profile PhotoJoe N. Pevahouse of Henderson, Tennessee died May 7, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee. He was born September 16, 1930, in Humboldt, Tennessee, the son of L.E. and Flora Lee Hiter Pevahouse.

He and Betty Anne Beeler of Union City, Tennessee were united in marriage on June 25, 1952. They were separated by her death in June 2014, a few days short of their 62nd wedding anniversary.

He attended the University of Tennessee Junior College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. After graduating from pharmacy school, he entered the US Army. Upon discharge from the service, he returned to Tennessee to begin his 43-year career as a pharmacist, first in Jackson, Tennessee. He subsequently joined in the ownership of City Drug Store in Henderson from 1959 until his retirement in 1997. He served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, University of Tennessee Health Sciences. His work as a community pharmacist was a source of lifelong joy, with the special relationships formed with his coworkers and members of the community over the years.

He enjoyed community service and was a member of the Chester County Board of Health and the Henderson Industrial Development Board. He was chosen as the 2005 Citizen of the Year by the Chester County Chamber of Commerce.

A lifelong Methodist, he was a member of the First Methodist Church in Henderson. He loved the church and over his lifetime was actively involved in its service, both in the local church and in lay leadership roles in the Memphis Conference and the United Methodist Church. Years spent in service to the church were very special to him as a member of the General Board of Discipleship, the General Council on Ministries, and The Upper Room, along with his work at the local Gleaners House Ministry.

He is survived by 3 children: Thomas Neil Pevahouse (Sandra) of Greenwood, South Carolina, Dr. Joe Beeler Pevahouse (Vicki) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Ann Claire Pevahouse Gaddy (Jeff) of Henderson, Tennessee, along with 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 11, 2026, at First Methodist Church with burial at Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avene Chapel on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again from 9:30 AM until service time.
