Joe L. Leopard age 82 of Athens, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home. Joe was born June 3, 1935, to Argel and Hassie Barksdale Leopard.
Services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with David Cox and Greg Tucker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens.
Joe was a member of the Market Street church of Christ for over 59 years. He was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and loved his family dearly. He was an exceptional welder and pipe-fitter working at Monsanto for over 39 years and ran a welding business at his home specializing in aluminum welding.
Survived by his wife of 59 years, Polly, one daughter, Stephanie Leopard Brown of Athens, AL and husband, Norman; one son, Larry Leopard of Athens, AL and wife Shane; grandchildren, Jarrod Brown and wife Dell; Bart Brown and wife, Brittany; Emily Leopard and fiancé Will Harris; and Chandler Leopard; two great-grandchildren, Easton Brown and Bennett Brown; two sisters, Jeanette Murphy of Athens, AL and Janice Norton of Hoover, AL; one brother, Roger Leopard of Athens, AL and wife, Marcelle.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Glenn Leopard, brother; Sylvia Leopard and Joyce Gooch, sisters; and Taylor Leopard, grandson.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jarrod Brown, Bart Brown, Chandler Leopard, and nephews Mike Murphy, Mark Norton, and Kurt Leopard. Honorary Pallbearers are life-time neighbors, Paul Wayne Clem, Dwaine Allfrey, Billy Wayne Ferguson, John Allfrey, Billy Joe Anderson, and Phillip Griffin.
